UNDERGROUND RAILROAD CROSS COUNTRY BIKE TOUR OVERVIEW
Join us on a cross country bike tour along the Underground Railroad. As the newest bicycle route designed by Adventure Cycling, this cross country trek follows the trail of many freedom seekers from many years ago. We will honor the bravery of those who fled bondage and those who provided shelter.
Our 2000-mile, women-only bicycle tour across the country begins in Mobile, Alabama, which was once a busy port for slavery. We’ll follow rivers north through Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky. Then the North Star will guide us into Ohio, along Lake Erie and into Canada on the Peace Bridge near Niagara Falls. Our journey ends in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
Filled with history, the Underground Railroad is also beautiful. You’ll ride beside the Alabama, Tennesee and Ohio Rivers. Although there are no major climbs, there are many sections of roller coaster hills. We’ll ride a short distance on the Natchez Trace, and further north, along several paved rail trails.
Designed with women over 50 in mind, this six-week bike tour is fully supported. We’ll have a hot shower, home-cooked meal and warm bed awaiting you every night. Ride at your own pace and enjoy a rest day every week.
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

• We stay in motels with beds and hot showers every night. No camping for us! The founder of WomanTours, Gloria Smith, age 65, has put in her time in on the hard ground. She appreciates a soft bed after a long day in the saddle. Don't we all?
• There will be 6 rest days over the course of the trip. We schedule these at scenic stops where there is an opportunity to explore the area. We strongly believe in giving everyone time to see the natural wonders of our country and to relax to keep our bodies healthy and strong.
• Reasonable price. You’ll find we have the cheapest per day rate for any hotel cross country bike touring company.
• We offer healthy, home-cooked meals prepared by our traveling chef who understands the “performance food” needed to undertake such a challenge.

• We use our own easy-to-read cue sheets along with the expertly prepared maps by Adventure Cycling to show you the way.

Register on-line or call us at 800-247-1444 to make your non-refundable registration deposit of $200. The first payment of $1,500 is due by check by December 1, 2007. ($750 is nonrefundable and only transferable to another tour if we are able to fill your space.) The balance of the trip fee is due March 1, 2008 by check.

• Sign up for any WomanTours trip in 2008 at the same time you register for the Underground Railroad Tour and receive a 10% discount on the shorter tour.
OTHER DETAILS
Cancellation & Refunds: The $200 registration fee is non-refundable. If you cancel prior to March 1st, $750 of the $1,500 payment is refundable. The other $750 is not transferable to another tour unless we are able to fill your space.
Trip Insurance: We will provide you with a source for trip cancellation/interruption insurance. We strongly recommend insurance, especially for a trip of this magnitude.
Tour Details: Help on training, transportation, packing, and an itinerary will be sent upon receipt of your registration fee. We will also mail you periodic Prep Talk newsletters to help you prepare for the trip.
