DAY 5: After a hearty breakfast, we’ll shuttle a quick 10 miles up to Targhee Ski Resort. Once at the base of the mountain, you can choose to hike up or down or to hop on the chair lift. There is a breathtaking view from the top you won’t want to miss. You’ll see snow-capped Grand Teton Mountain standing at 13,770’. You’ll understand that the Tetons were obviously named by French traders from the Idaho side.
In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy an hour of yoga. The Teton Valley is home to a beautiful yoga studio and all skill levels will be accommodated, from the novice to the experienced. We’ll focus on gentle stretching of your bicycling muscles. Then we’ll have our final dinner together. 12 miles.
DAY 6: We’ll explore the Teton Valley with a ride to Horseshoe Canyon after breakfast today. Surrounded by mountains, we’ll find the cycling to be decidedly flat in the valley. We’ll pass horse pastures, potato farms and fields of wildflowers along the way.
We’ll end the tour back at the condos with a picnic lunch. Then we’ll shuttle everyone back to the Jackson airport or a hotel in town, arriving by 2:00pm. 26 miles.
The jagged, rocky peaks of the Teton Mountains rise dramatically from the sagebrush flats of Jackson Hole. Rich in history, scenery and wildlife, this mountain range offers a beautiful backdrop to a wonderful cycling experience. We’ve taken the easier parts of our other Teton tours and put them all into this tour for a more laid-back trip. A great tour for first-timers and women new to cycling.
DAY 1: Meet at our hotel in the heart of downtown Jackson, Wyoming. We’ll start our rental bike fitting at 3:30pm, have an orientation at 6:00pm and dinner together at 7:00pm.
If you arrive early, enjoy the afternoon shopping in the many stores and art galleries on Jackson’s quaint town square. Be sure to check out the cowboy bar and the wildlife art museum. 0 miles.
DAY 2: After breakfast, we’ll begin by biking directly beneath the spires of the Teton Mountains. The 40-mile long Teton range has eight peaks over 12,000’. You’ll bike right past herds of wild bison grazing beside the road, and then onto a bike path by pristine, azure Jenny Lake. Then we’ll reach Grand Teton National Park and our lodging for the next two nights. 33 or 47 miles.
DAY 3: We’ll spend the morning exploring the park with a hike. Keep your eyes peeled for elk, moose and antelope. Later in the afternoon, we’ll have an “effective bicycling” workshop for anyone wanting to learn more about bike handling, proper shifting, effective pedaling and nutrition. Our guides will also be able to help you learn how to change a flat tire if you’re interested.
We’ll finish off the day with dinner and a two-hour float trip to view the wildlife at an even slower pace. 0 miles.
DAY 4: We’ll bike back to Jackson and have a picnic lunch together in town. Then we’ll load up the bikes to shuttle over daunting Teton Pass, stopping at the top for a photo opportunity. Once on the other side and into Idaho, we’ll unpack our bags to stay at our spacious condos for the next two nights. We’ll enjoy a home-cooked dinner together in our condos. 37 miles.
