After the fun descent – much of which is on a bike path &ndash you’re free to enjoy the afternoon browsing in the many stores and art galleries on Jackson’s town square. Watch the evening western shoot-out for a truly campy tourist experience. Dinner is on your own. 35 miles.
DAY 5: After breakfast, we’ll begin by biking directly beneath the spires of the Teton Mountains. The 40-mile long Teton Range has eight peaks over 12,000’. You’ll bike past herds of wild bison grazing beside the road, and then onto a bike path by pristine, azure Jenny Lake. Then we’ll reach Grand Teton National Park and our lodging for the next two nights. 47 miles.
DAY 6: We’ll spend the morning exploring the beautiful park with a hike. Keep your eyes peeled for osprey and antelope. Later in the afternoon, we’ll have a bicycle workshop for anyone interested in learning how to fix a flat tire. We’ll go over getting your rear wheel off the bike, finding and repairing the flat, and tricks to getting your tire back on its rim. We’ll finish off the day with dinner and a float trip to view the mountains and wildlife from another perspective. 0 miles.
DAY 7: We’ll get an early start on our last day, when the morning sun on Grand Teton offers a spectacular photo opportunity. Watch for the elk and moose that are particularly active in the quiet mornings. We’ll end our tour with a farewell picnic lunch in Jackson. Then we will shuttle you to the Jackson airport by 2:00pm. If you need a shuttle back to Idaho Falls, you’ll arrive by 5:00pm. 37 miles.
We begin our tour on the western side of the jagged peaks of the Teton Range. We’ll bike toward the mountains until they loom over us. Then we’ll cross over Teton Pass, drop down into Jackson Hole and end in Teton National Park. Rich in history, scenery and wildlife, this tour offers an unforgettably beautiful cycling experience.
DAY 1: We meet in Idaho Falls, ID for a rental bike fitting at 3:00pm, orientation at 5:30pm and dinner at 6:30pm. Nestled on the banks of the Snake River, Idaho Falls has historically been a crossroads and stopover place. For us, it’s the perfect jumping off point for our Teton adventure. 0 miles.
DAY 2: After breakfast, we’ll shuttle to Mesa Falls, considered to be the last undisturbed waterfalls of the west. We’ll set off on our bikes through rolling farmland, stopping for a picnic lunch along the way. Then we’ll continue until we’re directly beneath the mountains in Teton Valley. We’ll overnight in the town of Driggs, where WomanTours was founded, in spacious condos for the next two nights. 35 or 59 miles.
DAY 3: Today we bike to Grand Targhee Ski Resort to explore the mountains up close. Take the chair lift or choose to hike up and down the mountain. The view at the top of the snow-capped peaks is breathtaking. After lunch on your own, we’ll head to a yoga class together. The Teton Valley is home to a beautiful yoga studio. We’ll accommodate all skill levels, from the novice to the experi- enced, as we focus on gentle stretching of your bicycling muscles. 25 miles.
DAY 4: After a hearty breakfast, we’ll leave the Idaho side of the mountains by crossing over Teton Pass into Wyoming. We’ll begin by biking in the flat valley to the base of the climb. Then, we’ll each wait at the top of the pass to cheer on each other as we complete our challenge. We’ll take a group photo with Jackson Hole below us. Remember that the van is always available to give you a lift when needed.
