Unpack your bags only once. We’ll stay in luxurious, modern ranch homes with dramatic views of the Grand Tetons for this bicycling retreat. The mountains will be our backdrop as we spend the week cycling through Teton Valley, learning about our bicycles and relaxing our bodies. You’ll surely return home renewed and recharged.
DAY 1: We meet in beautiful Teton Valley near Driggs, Idaho for an orientation at 4:00pm, followed by a rental bike fitting. If you’re interested in learning about fitting bicycles, choosing saddles, or assembling bikes if you’ve brought your own, then our guides will go over it all with you. Then we’ll enjoy our first dinner together. 0 miles.
DAY 2: After a hearty breakfast, we’ll explore Teton Valley with a flat ride, ending with a picnic lunch at the local yoga studio. You’ll be surrounded by the Teton Mountains, but you’ll ride past potato farms, horse pastures and fields of wildflowers. Be sure to stop at the Emporium for a local, wild huckleberry shake on your way back through the valley.
In the afternoon, we’ll have a session of Anusara yoga. The instructors accommodate all skill levels from the novice to the expert. This is a great way to try yoga if you’ve never experienced it before. We’ll focus on gentle stretching of our bicycling muscles. Then we’ll cycle back to our lodgings for dinner together again. 39 miles.
DAY 3: We’ll start the day with a shuttle to beautiful Mesa Falls, considered to be the last undisturbed waterfall in the west. Then we’ll set off on our bikes through rolling farmland, stopping for a picnic lunch along the way and eventually finishing back at our lodgings.
In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a bicycle workshop when we’ll go over effective cycling techniques, including better bike handling, proper shifting, efficient pedaling and the importance of good nutrition. 37 miles.
DAY 4: Today you have the option of cycling the steady 10-mile climb up
to Grand Targhee Ski Resort or taking our shuttle. Once at the base of the
mountain, you can hike up or down on your own or hop on the chair lift. There is a breathtaking view from the top you won’t want to miss. You’ll see snow-capped Grand Teton Mountain standing at 13,770’. You’ll understand that the Tetons were obviously named by French traders from the Idaho side.
Enjoy the 10-mile descent and then roll back to our lodgings for an afternoon bicycle class about fixing flat tires and maintaining your brakes. Dinner is on your own tonight. 12 or 24 miles.
DAY 5: 5 We’ll begin our morning with a yoga session to prepare us for the most spectacular ride of the week. Then we’ll have breakfast and begin our cycling on a bike path through the valley to the base of Teton Pass. If you are not up to the challenge, we’ll shuttle you at the top so you can admire the view down into Jackson Hole and cheer anyone on who has chosen to ride the entire pass. After a group photo, we’ll ride back down to the valley.
We’ll have one last bike workshop in the afternoon to teach us about chains, bike cleaning and lubing, and packing your bike for shipping if you’ve brought your own. We’ll allow lots of time for questions and topics of your choice as well. 20 - 54 miles.
DAY 6: We end our tour with a leisurely ride through Horseshoe Canyon Valley. Look for moose in the willows along the creek. We’ll help you practice packing your own bicycle if you’ve brought it and then all enjoy a picnic lunch together. We’ll provide a shuttle to the Jackson airport arriving by 2:30pm and then say our good-byes. 30 miles.
