Our traveling chef prepares healthy, home-cooked meals every riding day. She understands the “performance food” needed to undertake such a challenge.
We limit the group size to 30 plus staff. You’re neither alone nor anonymous. We guarantee you’ll make some lifelong friends along the way.
We’ll complete the Western Segment of the Northern Tier from Anacortes, WA to Fargo, ND in the summer of 2010.

Are you interested in bicycling across the country? On the Northern Tier cross-country route from North Dakota to Maine? We’ve divided the tour in half and will run the Western half in 2010 and the Eastern half in 2011. We hope this makes it easier to fit the tour into your busy lives. Here’s your chance to ride across America on the beautiful northern route - for women only.
We’ll start our cross-country tour on the Northern Tier in 2010 and finish it in 2011. We’ll start this Eastern Segment in Fargo, ND and continue through the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. We’ll celebrate the finish of our tour by dipping our tires into the Atlantic Ocean.
We’ll bike along the shores of two of the Great Lakes – Erie and Ontario, and right by the fantastic Niagara Falls. After biking by WomanTours headquarters, you’ll bike through Adirondack State Park, near the shores of Lake Champlain and over the Green Mountains of Vermont. We’ll end the tour in beautiful Acadia National Park.
Along the way you’ll experience scenic, rural America and small town hospitality. Our van carries your luggage. Dry, warm beds and a hot shower await you every night at our hotels. No camping for us! The founder of WomanTours, Gloria Smith, age 67, has put her time in on the hard ground. She appreciates a soft bed after a long day in the saddle. Don't we all?
We give you descriptive, “can't get lost” maps by Adventure Cycling and our own detailed cue sheets to show you the way.
We designed this tour with women over 50 in mind, but women of any age are welcome. Everyone rides at her own pace. Our supportive atmosphere for and by women helps each of us accomplish more than we ever thought capable of.
We offer a reasonable price. You’ll find we have the cheapest per day rate for any hotel cross-country bike touring company.
We build 1 rest day into the schedule every week. We schedule these layover days at scenic stops to give you time to see the natural wonders of our country. And to give our bodies a chance to recover and stay healthy and strong. We offer lower daily mileages than any other transamerica touring company.
